Hello everyone, my name is Tyler Smith and I'm a member of the ChapterWeb development team. I wanted to take some time today to introduce you to a number of new ChapterWeb developments. We've been working very hard for a long time to bring you these updates and are excited to be able to finally share them with you!
In short, just about everything. ChapterWeb has been completely redesigned from the ground up to be more user-friendly, customizable, aesthetically pleasing, and feature-rich. We've invested a great deal of time and energy into the revised Communication, Calendar, Hours, Reports, Photos, Files, Member Management, and Philanthropy Management feature sets.

Today we're also pleased to introduce Everything ChapterWeb. This new supporting web site focuses on anything and everything having to do with ChapterWeb: help & support articles, new features, general tips & tricks, announcements, and more.
As a first step, we've written a full series of focused "How To" articles to help your chapter transition to the new version. We'll be adding more articles over time to build a comprehensive, documented ChapterWeb support system.
You'll be hearing from the entire ChapterWeb team more than ever before. Just bookmark the site (or subscribe to the RSS feed, if you're so inclined) to stay up-to-date and informed on what's going on with ChapterWeb.
We've setup a ChapterWeb Demo Site to allow you to get some hands-on time with the new version. If you're interested in a login to the ChapterWeb Demo Site, please send an email to email@example.com and we'll get you setup right away!
First things first: rest assured that you won't be migrated to the new version without consulting with your chapter's web administrators first. We realize you've invested a good deal of time and energy getting your membership trained on the current platform and wouldn't necessarily appreciate an "overnight" upgrade without planning, training, and preparation.
A Complex Task
The ChapterWeb migration process involves copying data into the new platform, then slowly moving each chapter over to be served by the new version. Because of the extensive customization options and flexibility offered in ChapterWeb, there is no “one-size-fits-all” process for migrating every chapter.
A tremendous amount of focus and effort from the entire ChapterWeb team has been put in to making this a smooth transition. We are going to err on the side of caution and take the time necessary to move every chapter successfully, with as little disruption as possible to you. As always, our Support team is standing by and willing to help in whatever way possible.
What to do in the meantime
Keep using ChapterWeb! The whole team has been working on this for several years, and we’re excited to start sharing the new ChapterWeb with you, but please bear with us as we go through the home stretch.
Important things to remember:
- This is a free upgrade to your ChapterWeb service.
- Each chapter will be contacted to schedule the migration to the new platform, not automatically moved.
- There may be some glitches along the way, but we are doing everything we can to avoid migration issues.
- This transition continues from now until we're done, with a target completion date of April, 2010.
Did We Mention We're Excited?
It's worth mentioning again how excited the whole team is to move to this new platform. It truly represents the best of what we've learned in supporting more than a hundred NCL chapters nationwide for the past eight years or so and adds a considerable amount of polish and new functionality to what was already a great product.
